However, not all coaching courses are created equal, and making the wrong choice might have some serious consequences for your career.

  • Rapid Certifications: Beware of coaching courses promising instant results or certifications. Mastery takes time and dedication, so steer clear of programs that promise to turn you into a coach overnight. Instead look for courses that will help you to hone your skills, we’d recommend a minimum of six months but ideally a 12 month program.
  • Lack of Detailed Curriculum: Ensure the course you choose provides a comprehensive outline detailing coach-specific training hours, accreditations, and course contents. Transparency is key.
  • No Practice Opportunities: Coaching is a skill that requires practice (and lots of it!). Choose a course that offers hands-on experience and opportunities for professional feedback. Our 5-day intensive gives you the opportunity to practise your coaching skills with your fellow cohort members, alongside guidance from our mentors and assessment team.
  • Lack of Accreditation: Ensure the course is accredited by reputable organisations such as the International Coach Federation (ICF) or the Association for Coaching (AC)
  • Lack of Focus: Look for courses that align with your interests and goals. Avoid programs that are too general or lack a specific focus.   • Inexperienced Trainers: Learn from experienced and qualified trainers who can offer guidance and mentorship. Avoid courses with trainers lacking relevant experience or credentials.
  • Lack of Ongoing Support: Coaching can be a lonely profession. Choose a course that offers ongoing support and a sense of community.   • Rigid Approaches: Avoid courses that impose rigid coaching styles or methodologies. Look for programs that encourage flexibility and allow you to develop your unique coaching approach.
